Ear Cancer Symptoms that Everyone Should Know


 
 

Ear cancer is a relatively rarely seen form of cancer that can effect the ear canal, middle or outer ear.  Many times this form of cancer is often mistaken for other conditions. 

In most cases, a biopsy in needed to confirm or rule out the possibility of cancer.  However, there are symptoms that may alert you for the need to see your physician or a cancer specialist. 

Ear Cancer Symptoms Include:

  • Ulcers- normally on the outer ear
  • Swelling or lump on neck
  • Constant ear ache
  • Deafness- Mostly a sign of cancer of the middle ear.
  • Ejection of blood or pus- Mostly a sign of cancer of the middle ear.
  • Feeling of fullness in ears
  • Humming sensation in the ear
  • Dizziness
  • In rare cases facial paralysis

Once ear cancer is diagnosed, it is treated with radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery.  Symptoms vary depending where  the cancer develops within the ear. Anytime you have been diagnosed with any form of cancer, you will be scared to death. External Ear Cancer


This type of ear cancer  usually goes deep into the ear. Signs of a sore that crusts over can indicate external ear cancer. It begins externally from the ear as skin cancer and continually progresses into the ear canal. Surgery can usually treat this condition.  Another place that you might be aware of is the top part of the ear. The sores have been known to appear there as well.

Cancer In The Ear Canal


Cancer in the ear canal usually appears as a tumor and ear canal cancer if caught early can be treated by surgery called a Mastoidectomy. This works by removing air cells that are located inside air pockets beneath the skull.

Middle Ear Cancer


Middle ear cancer can be incredibly painful and cause both deafness and bleeding. Middle ear cancer usally show up at the start of the ear canal.  It too can be treated by a surgeon if caught in the early stages.

There are many other types of ear cancer as well.  If you experience any of the symptoms of ear cancer then you need to see medical care immediately.  In most cases, the symptoms of ear cancer can be attributed to other causes.  Regardless of the cause of these symptoms it is important that get a diagnosis as soon as possible is vitally important.  Even if those ear cancer symptoms are not actually caused by cancer other conditions can result in earring loss or other problems so prompt treatment is important.

If you do have ear cancer, getting prompt treatment is even more important.  The faster you get ear cancer symptoms diagnosed the better your chances of making a complete recovery.
